Handcrafted Gifts for the Veggie Gardener

Got a vegetable gardener on your gift list? Here are some suggestions for their stocking this holiday season (and maybe your own).
How about a wood garden dibble? There is just something about the way wood feels in your hands. Unlike plastic or metal, wood is warm and just feels right. This tool is handy for planting bulbs, seeds or transplants. The notched edges are space 1″ apart so you can plant your seeds at the perfect depth. This hand turned dibble is sanded smooth and polished with beeswax. You can order them from Wood Elements

Garden markers are always welcome gifts and there are handcrafted markers to fit any style. For the lover of vintage styles, choose these re-purposed silverware markers from the Wooden Hive.     A set of four is only $22 and you can select the names of herbs you wish to have hand hammered onto the spoons.

.

For the gardener that loves bright colors and cheerful garden sculpture, choose these darling ceramic marker by fromArtisansHands. A set of three is only $20. Add a few packs of matching vegetable seeds and you’ve got a lovely gift.

Those garden markers are lovely, but I find them a bit pricey. I’m always torn between supporting artisans and being broke. I really like the spoons – hmmmm, perhaps a new project is on the horizon…

I know what you mean. But then again, they would last a lot longer and look a lot better than the strips of plastic milk jugs I’ve been using.
